One day my dad bought a box of mehndi just to try it out and since he wasn’t a very good drawer he asked me to draw something on his hand. I said yes and started doing some random patterns. The result wasn’t really successful… It was my first time trying and I grimaced at the idea of it being temporary permanent. I asked him if it was okay and he looked at it and said: ‘anything my daughter does is beautiful’. I don’t know why but curiously I asked him: ‘And what if I’m not?’. He looked at me and shrugged. ‘It doesn’t matter since I raised you’. I thought for a minute. ‘And what if my biological dad wants me back?’, I asked again being my teasing old me and impatiently waiting for his answer. He just sat there and plainly replied: ‘I’ll just show him the cost he owes me for your upbringing. I’m sure he’ll be running for the hills...without you.’ My dad knows it.

Momento: The person you should call dad is not the person who fathered you but the person who looked after and cared for you since childhood.
